Here are pictures from our trip down south. Heading out, we had all that snow! Then the four cousins heading off to see Stomp for Nicky's birthday. The last is Maddy capturing the essence of Sam! :)

Here are some pictures of the girls, they were dressing up and took the photos themselves!

Here we are enjoying our new stable and horses! Don't mind that it takes up the ENTIRE living room! :)

We enjoyed our Saturday by exploring a new State Park. It was a gorgeous day in the high 70's. We even met a golden retreiver named Ginger and the owner was nice enough to let us throw a stick for her. The picture of the tree with the light coming through is Maddy's masterpiece.

This is the latest creation from the girls. They found a cake book at the library and decided we needed to make something. Just our luck, we were invited to a party so we made the spooky Halloween cake. While Kate had some downtime, she created this M&M masterpiece in the other picture!

Here we are at The Betsy Ross House with a Colonial Guard that took a liking to the girls. The other two are at Valley Forge where as you all remember from your history studies was the winter encampment of George Washington and the colonial forces the winter of 1777. For those of you that are studying state history this year, North Carolina was the least prepared of all the colonies during the Revolutionary War. So we really have the folks of Pennsylvania to thank for our freedom (not those from North Carolina)! :)
Here are some new pictures of our Philly explorations! I'm doing this by dial-up so be patient! This first one is Maddy's favorite place in South Philly. It is a whole street of mosiacs, but there is a courtyard that is just amazing and this picture only gives you one small chunk of it.

People, people, people - here are some great shots of the family!

The kids had a blast exploring tide pools in Acadia National Park in Maine.

As you can see, Walter did too!

The girls went kayaking in Cape Breton Highlands National Park, Nova Scotia.

As we watch a bald eagle fly by - once again, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.

Our close-to-world travelers and the Cabot Trail, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. If you look closely, you'll see whales spouting in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, a moose munching on greenery in the meadow below and a bald eagle flying by - no kidding! We saw all those from this vantage point! What a great five minutes!

Even the sisters get some photo time!

Closing out a day of traveling, hiking and wildlife viewing. How perfect.

KREILING LITTLE VAC

KREILING / LITTLE VACATION
MAINE – NOVA SCOTIA
August 2005

Our vacation was WONDERFUL! I won’t elaborate as I’m sure everyone wants to just see the pictures but I think we all agree that visiting Maine is definitely worth more than one trip!

THE WHALES!!!!!
We went whale watching in Nova Scotia – couldn’t ask for more perfect conditions – calm seas, little fog, little rain.

Our whale watchers – preparing to head out. The boat was a Zodiac; very low to the water and easily maneuverable.

I so rarely get my picture taken as I’m usually the photographer that I had to add this one! *grin* As you can see, the kids just hung over the sides of the boat and watched whale after whale. It was an incredible day!

More to come... --Amy

Here are some shots of "Sweet Maddy" on her last night in the "King and I".

The one shot during the performance is particularly out of focus, but that is probably what the "photographer" gets for "illegal use of camera" - - - you were not suppose to take pictures.

(By the way, in case you never tried it, it seems that if you click on a picture in a blog, it gives you a larger, clearer image --- if the image was in focus in the first place)

Anyway --- like everything both of these girls do --- we were very, very impressed with Maddy's hard work, talent and spirit.

What a sweetie!

Here is the star of the King & I! You can't take photos during the performance, so here are a few I thought you might enjoy.

Here is the way I will always think of the Palatine house --- 42 West Cutie Pie Street.

I used to always call it that when I brought the girls home. At first they would say --- in mock (- - - I think mock) annoyance --- Graaaaandpaaaaa.

But then it became one of our little jokes and they just played along with their goofy old grandpa.

Hi Everyone,

I am not sure it it is not good "blog" protecol or whatever, but I would like to suggest that we all try to put at least one comment (however brief) on each posting.

It could just be something short and sweet like "interesting", or "cute", or "are you out of your mind" or whatever.

I just find myself feeling kind of "up in the air" or whatever, sending this stuff out into the "ether" and never knowing for sure if anyone saw it, or if a slideshow link actually worked, etc.

On the other hand, if that is not good "blog procedure", then I guess I will just have to "get over it".

Regards,

Grandpa L.

Hi Everyone,

Here are a couple of pictures of the girls from Easter that I thought you might enjoy.

They were not focussed very well, so I de-focussed them a little more to give them a soft, dreamy look.
Then I made part of the image a black and white border to give them some depth.

Came out pretty well

Hi Everyone

I think the link below goes to a very elementary slideshow of the girls that I made to try out a new piece of software.

Try clicking on it to see if it shows. (It may prompt you to download some software - - - or not).

Here we are hanging out at the doggy beach in Chicago. I think that we managed to tire the girls and the dogs! :)
