It’s been awhile since I’ve posted updates, and we have a few!!!!
Nicky was inducted in the National Honor Society on May 6, 2013.
Joey received the Coach’s Award for his Cross Country season.
Nicky got a new car (used but gently) – 1999 Subaru Outback.
Joey performed at a local café with the Durham Youth Orchestra (he’s 1st violin!)
Nicky attended prom with his date, Eryn.
Nicky was awarded MVP of his athletic conference for the running events. Here’s a photo of his track awards (we call it the track swag):
It included 2 school records – 1600 and 3200 (the runner on the plaque). Most valuable player plaque for his track team. Player of the year for running events plaque. A t-shirt honoring his running 1000 miles this year (so far). He letter’d in his sport. It was quite an evening for Nicky!!!
Whew! That’s a lot. We’ve got visits to colleges on tap (Georgia Tech, Emory, University of Penn, Princeton, NC State). We’ve visited University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, UNC-Chapel Hill. Many XC / Track & Field coaches are interested in Nik. (he’d like to be called “Nik” in college.) We’ll be visiting the IL area at the end of July. We’ll be hitting the beach with Grandma Jane sometime this summer. Joey will be taking driver’s ed in June (OMG!!). Kristin & Jonathan will be visiting.
I’m tired just writing all this stuff. But most of all, we’ll have FUN and RELAX!!!

....wait....Joey is taking driver's ed? That can't be! There is no way he is old enough to even think about driving.....
Yup, he's 14.5 years old, and in NC, that's the age when you take driver's ed! He'll get his permit in November! ACK!
