We went to the Glencairen Castle and Cathedral today. Some wealthy family had a liking for the Middle Ages and built a castle for his collection of medieval stuff. Yes, his family did live in the castle! The girls are in front of the castle and then they are learning to carve stone. All the stones & iron work was hand-done in the early 1900's. They even made stained glass windows the same way as in the Middle Ages. I guess when you have a ton of money....

It's Springtime in North Carolina!
Don't you wish you were here?

Joey took some pictures this week and we'd like to share them. Joey is quite the photographer these days (using Mom's new digital camera!)

Here's Nicky (#0) at his first (ever!) basketball game - somehow he got fouled and is taking the game's first free throw.

How about this picture of Scooter? The blue is the color of our kitchen these days. Isn't Joe a great photographer?

And here are pictures of Duke, Bear and the old geezers on the orthapeadic bed (Max and Sam):

Finally, a picture of the photographer himself...

Here are pictures from our trip down south. Heading out, we had all that snow! Then the four cousins heading off to see Stomp for Nicky's birthday. The last is Maddy capturing the essence of Sam! :)

Here are some pictures of the girls, they were dressing up and took the photos themselves!

Here we are enjoying our new stable and horses! Don't mind that it takes up the ENTIRE living room! :)

We enjoyed our Saturday by exploring a new State Park. It was a gorgeous day in the high 70's. We even met a golden retreiver named Ginger and the owner was nice enough to let us throw a stick for her. The picture of the tree with the light coming through is Maddy's masterpiece.

This is the latest creation from the girls. They found a cake book at the library and decided we needed to make something. Just our luck, we were invited to a party so we made the spooky Halloween cake. While Kate had some downtime, she created this M&M masterpiece in the other picture!

Here we are at The Betsy Ross House with a Colonial Guard that took a liking to the girls. The other two are at Valley Forge where as you all remember from your history studies was the winter encampment of George Washington and the colonial forces the winter of 1777. For those of you that are studying state history this year, North Carolina was the least prepared of all the colonies during the Revolutionary War. So we really have the folks of Pennsylvania to thank for our freedom (not those from North Carolina)! :)
Here are some new pictures of our Philly explorations! I'm doing this by dial-up so be patient! This first one is Maddy's favorite place in South Philly. It is a whole street of mosiacs, but there is a courtyard that is just amazing and this picture only gives you one small chunk of it.

People, people, people - here are some great shots of the family!

The kids had a blast exploring tide pools in Acadia National Park in Maine.

As you can see, Walter did too!

The girls went kayaking in Cape Breton Highlands National Park, Nova Scotia.

As we watch a bald eagle fly by - once again, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.

Our close-to-world travelers and the Cabot Trail, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. If you look closely, you'll see whales spouting in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, a moose munching on greenery in the meadow below and a bald eagle flying by - no kidding! We saw all those from this vantage point! What a great five minutes!

Even the sisters get some photo time!

Closing out a day of traveling, hiking and wildlife viewing. How perfect.

KREILING LITTLE VAC

KREILING / LITTLE VACATION
MAINE – NOVA SCOTIA
August 2005

Our vacation was WONDERFUL! I won’t elaborate as I’m sure everyone wants to just see the pictures but I think we all agree that visiting Maine is definitely worth more than one trip!

THE WHALES!!!!!
We went whale watching in Nova Scotia – couldn’t ask for more perfect conditions – calm seas, little fog, little rain.

Our whale watchers – preparing to head out. The boat was a Zodiac; very low to the water and easily maneuverable.

I so rarely get my picture taken as I’m usually the photographer that I had to add this one! *grin* As you can see, the kids just hung over the sides of the boat and watched whale after whale. It was an incredible day!

More to come... --Amy
